My art builds upon transitory impulses that reach me at all hours. I create from a deep gut feeling, which allows me to take risks and present a raw and honest perspective. The colors, shapes, lines, and textures are the result of what I know at the moment, and I attempt to express them before they fly away.
Through a practice that has been described as provocative yet simplistic, I seek to encourage others to see what they want to see in my work. There is no final answer within a piece, but there is an opportunity for reflection.
Many of my works are remarkably different in style and depth, which stems from not following a set format as I begin to create.
Influences include Joan Mitchell, Richard Diebenkorn, Jacob Lawrence, Lee Krasner, Helen Frankenthaler, Elaine de Kooning, and David C. Driskell.
Mediums: Acrylics, house paint, charcoal, oil pastel, chalk pastel, paper and fabric materials.
